A big nasty boss monster known as Arachnarog, but sometimes called the spider dragon.  Designed for a video game, the player would be exploring a cave and come to a room with a bridge like structure that has a pile of loot at the end of it.  When the player moves to get it Arachnarog scuttles up on top of the bridge and knocks the player down.  All in all quite a frightening experience.   

Another book cover.  I tried to utilize the style I used in Murders in Rosewood and I think it was effective.  I think I'm going to continue with this style.  So far it's been very effective with more serious, scary, or suspenseful images.  I don't really see it for a more lighthearted piece, but that's something I'll have to tinker with.
